Summer is sweet & so are the flowers

Here on the west coast of Britsh Columbia we are experiencing a very mild summer indeed, which suits me very well as I basically wilt in the heat and can’t seem to accomplish much of anything. With this cooler summer I have been able to keep up my knitting and crocheting in comfort. I found a cute pattern for simple crocheted slippers and liked them when they were completed but I felt my pair needed a little something more and since I love gardening & flowers…

Here is my quick and easy pattern for dimentional crocheted flowers:

SIMPLE SUMMER FLOWER

First piece (bottom layer)

Round 1: ch 2, 12 sc in 1st ch, sl st in 1st sc to join (12 sc).

Round 2: ch1, (sc, ch 5, sc) in 1st sc, ch 1, *skip 1 sc, (sc, ch5, sc) in next sc, ch 1, repeat from *4 times (6 loops in total) sl st to 1st sc.

Round 3: ch 1, *(sc, hdc, 4 dc, hdc, sc) in ch 5 loop, repeat from * 5 times, sl st to 1st sc (6 petals).

Tie off and weave in ends.

2nd piece (top layer)

Round 1: ch 2, 5 sc in 1st ch, sl st to 1st sc to join (5 sc).

Round 2: ch 1, sc in 1st sc, ch 3, * (sc in next sc, ch 3) repeat from * 4 times (5 loops in all), sl st to 1st sc.

Round 3: ch 1, *(sc in sc, ch 3, sc in ch3 loop, ch 3) repeat from * 5 times (10 loops in all), sl st to 1st sc.

Tie off and leave long tail to stitch layers together. Stich to pin-backing or slippers or whatever you like!
